Natural Afghanistan Lapis Lazuli, large amber chips (62), and pyrite beads strung on 1MM Natural Antigue Brown round leather cord. Chinese button knots separates the lapis/pyrite sections. A flat, rounded diamond shape magnesite stone toggle and handmade leather loop closes the 24" inch necklace.
Lapis is primarily made up of the indigo, royal, midnight, or marine blue mineral lazurite and also contain flecks of gold-colored pyrite and white calcite. Mines in northern Afghanistan (most notably the Sar-e-Sang mine) have been worked for over 6,000 years and have produced lapis rough ancient Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Greek, and Roman civilizations.
